I am currently developing on a Palm device from Symbol. It has a heavy, reinforced housing that is vibration isolated. It also includes a built-in bar code scanner. Internally, it is basically a Palm III with a rechargable battery. Check out model SPT-1700 on the Symbol web site www.symbol.com . They are expensive, but made for rough use.
