As one who's always voted on machines, I'm also fascinated by how many places seem to be using some kind of paper ballot and by the fact that, in this case, if you'd made a mistake, you were SOL. (Can someone who has voted with punch-out paper ballots tell us whether, in fact, you can get another if you screw up?)

In Florida, as the whole world knows by now, we had the punch-type ballot. I believe, if you made a mistake you can ask for a new ballot.

My beef is with the whole system of Electoral College. The vote should be simple popular majority. Why does my vote in Florida count for more than somebody's vote in Alaska? It shouldn't! One citizen, one vote. That should be it.

This way, we have a popular vote that says Gore won. But the popular vote as we know doesn't count. Sheesh!
