>>I'll take you on specifically on this one. If you're able to serve in the armed forces for our country, you should be able to have a voice. This would mean a minimum age of 18. It wasn't so long ago (late 60s, early 70s) when you could be drafted and sent off to war without any say about it.

>Make that 17 as the minimum age to enter the United States Military. I was 17 when I joined and am a Viet Nam Vet. The minimum age to join the military is still 17. I could not drink beer etc. or vote until I was 21. Hate to say it but I did not start drink beer until I was 29. Why hurry an enjoyable experience. And now I am having dreams of a nice pint of Guinness!

Tom,
I guess that makes us contemporaries Tom.< s >
My point, however, was more along the lines that you had to be 18 to be drafted, and had no say in the matter.
I for one, although I am not a veteran, applaud and thank you for your service.
As for the "pint", maybe we'll meet up some day and share one.
Regards,
George
