I'm just reading through the messages that I've missed, does my other post clear this up?
>I see your point, but wouldn't the VC++ developers already be either skilled in this or atleast accustomed to it?
They would be wasting their time if they dealt with the complexity of C++ to write managed code.
>Only the marginal VC++ developers would jump ship. So it seems like the target for C# is kind of small.
More than marginal, IMO, plus some VFP developers, some Java/J++ developers, pissed off VB developers, people who WANT to be Java developers, and I'm sure the ASP Scripters will want to jump at this cause of ASP+.
ASP+ is seperating the Script kiddies with the real developers... the basic ASP syntax (ASP Classic some call it now) as we know it going way (IOW: exist for backwards compatibilty, but no longer being supported or upgraded by MS), and all the Scripters will either have to jump ship or learn real development: some people will move from VBScript to VB.NET, others will go towards Java or C#.
