Why bother? You guys keep forgetting one of the main marketing thrusts of ".Net". ".Net" is an attempt by MS to get into the corporate enterprise. The Enterprise market is currently dominated by tools such as Oracle and Java.

In particular, if MS wants to gain Java converts, it needs something different from C++ (too hard) and VB (not sophisticated enough). Enter C#. The CLR is an attempt to let VB and VC++ folk develop at the Enterprise level.

This also explains the lack of any real annoucements by MS that they are going to rush to get VFP on the CLR bandwagon. VFP simply doesn't play in the Corporate Enterprise anymore.
