From what I understand, any contract changes will make a contract extension of 1 year automatic and they don't tell you about it.

My situation here is that I transfered service from one Verizon market to another and they didn't transfer the contract. They automatically gave me a new contract with the original contract length but they don't honor anything else. I had an out on my original contract that allowed me to pay $150.00 to cancel the contract. Since I am "Under a new contract" I have to pay $25./month of the rest of my existing contract (which comes out to $625!). When I transfered the service, I was guarenteed that the original contract would be honored and transfered. It didn't and they didn't disclose any of the contract terms that I would be under in the new contract (which I wouldn't have accepted if I had been told about the issues of the new contract).

I filed complaints with the FCC and the BBB as well as the possibility of hiring an attorney and possible class action lawsuit. We have to see how Verizon reponds.
