There was a colossal change between the object model of Word 95 and Word 97. Word 95 and prior use Word.Basic, while 97 and later do not (it *is* implemented, but performance suffers, and who knows if Word.Basic will be in the next version...). IAC, there is a LOT of effort to be compatible between 95 and 97--wrapper classes are a MUST here, as nearly EVERY line of code changes.

Fortunately, Word 97 and Word 2000 are extremely compatible. :)

Be sure that any service releases/patches are applied, as a couple of them *do* affect the way Automation works (particularly in 97).

If you can get to Word 97, that would be wonderful. It's pretty smooth sailing from there, as there is sufficient documentation. Finding documentation on Word.Basic is a bit more difficult, especially predating Word 95 (Word 6 was the version prior, right?). It *can* be done -- I successfully Automated Word 95, and then went through the PAINFUL process of rewriting every line, and relearning the entire object model -- and seeing the beauty of wrapper classes!

Hope this helps...
