Unfortunately the users have been pretty much excluded from doing anything, so I dont think just using the wscript object would work, but I had thought there might have been a way to set the security of the current process to a higher level so I might be able to set the default printer.

But of course I haven't been able to find this mystical function anywhere <g>.
