DOS apps tend NOT to close the printer port after each job ( or even release it at the end of a session ! )

Since this is a big problem in a multi tasking environment, it seems to be common practice to block access to printer ports from DOS !

Probably the simplest solution is to always print to a text file , and let VFP or any other program you want take care of printing the text file!

This has some advantages, you can use a utility to print mutliple pages per sheet, change fonts, etc!
