Joe! Dude! Fancy meeting you here. Small world. I got a good one for ya. I just tried calling you, but no one answered.

I need to display text in a text-like box (display only, no edit, but need scroll up and down, and highlight with mouse). Text needs to be able to be displayed in color (color foreground, as well as color background). My first thought was a RichText box, but alas.. the RTB doesn't seem to support colored backgrounds for text, only colored foreground. Khaled accomplished it when he wrote mIRC. I just emailed him (we've corisponded before, but I doubt he remembers me). I'm at a loss. I need some serious brain-storming power on this one. I know it can be done. I've heard Khaled actualy used a PictureBox and draws the whole thing out himself. I suppose that's possible, but he's REALY good if he did. mIRC's chat window box looked so much like a RichText box, it's had me fooled up until recently. There are suttle differences though, like you can't highlight to the left or up, only right and down... Looks like it was a "custom" highlight job. However he did it, I'm majorly impressed.

I need good fresh ideas. I've run into a road block on this one and need some external thoughts. Kludges, ideas, random thoughts... anything to get my brain going again. :)
