Well, it looks like I'm wrong. I just wrote a quick test program, with a button and a textbox. I put:
MsgBox text1.Name
in the button's code, and ran it. When I click the button, it shows "Text1".

Can you be more detailed in describing your problem? What is is doing that is prohibiting you from using the .Name property?
