As of ADO 2.5 (I think), you can persist an ADO Recordset to an XML document that can later be used to recreate the Recordset:

What I have not been able to figure out is this -- is there a way to store the recordset to an XML-formatted variable string rather than a file? I don't like the idea of creating a disk presence just to pass a small recordset from component to component. [The particular process I am working with at the moment is just fine passing the entire recordset, but I would like to test it out with an XML string.]
