Based on social policy, it is hard to argue the point for Dukakis based on his Mass. record. He was certainly portrayed that way by Papa Bush, mainly because he was a member of the ACLU (which makes John Gotti a liberal, I suppose), but he was quite centrist up in Mass. Then again, he had taken over a state in chaos and I suppose you could argue that he did not have many choices (or much revenue) available to him.

Ironically, although it is not discussed very much in the low-IQ world of new reporting, the economic term of "Liberal" fits the Republicans much more than it fits the Democrats.
