Hi Mark,

Once again this week I received a message, which should be addressed to the originator of this thread.
Anyway, your problem is quite interesting and I'm curios about the ideas as well. I like your idea of animated cursors, I may try it. Also in vfug you may find a fancy progress bar, which works for bunch internal command, like Index, for example. Also Yuri Rubinov sent me his ProgBar, which could be used for copy to command, for example. It's very simple, but really nice and useful. I have it at work, so I may send it to you on Monday, but better ask Yuri by yourself.

>I am working on this same issue from another direction (see Classes - VCX: Progress Bar for REIN, etc.) I also wanted to trap the numbers you see in the status bar, in my case so I could plug them into an expression to auto-update a big bold progress bar during reindexes, packs and other time consuming processes.

>Several people have told me there's no way to extract those values. I will check the other suggestions you've been given. However, when I tried to use RECNO() / RECCOUNT() * 100 to generate a percentage to update my prog bar, it looks like my app can't get an updated value for RECNO() out of VFP until AFTER the REIN or whatever has completed. This is no help, the progress bar doesn't budge during the process, then jumps to 100% when it completes. Bah!

>If you explain why you want to trap / what you need to do with these values perhaps another means to the same end could be devised.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
