>Sorry for the shouting....I was not sure how to set it up in the normal fashion...but by playing I think I got it...I set up the VPN..then I set up the drive as being web shared....then I start IIS on the server for web access...then on the remote machine I map the drive to http://servernameonthenet/sharename ......and it seems to work...now I have to go back and put in security........does this sound correct or am I doing everything overly complicated...

You overcomplicated it. You simply need to turn file sharing on on the remote machine, and share the folder in question. (Right click the folder in explorer, sharing, share this folder).

After the folder is shared and you are sure that you know the share name and have access rights, you can type the following into a DOS prompt from a NT or Win2K client box:

NET USE k: \\123.123.123.123\MyShare /user:YourUserName

This will map the k drive to a share named MyShare on a machine at the IP Address 123.123.123.123 using the YourUserName account. You will be prompted for a password if you are not already authenticated (you probably are if you set up the VPN).
