I'm sure this is NOT a refresh problem. Its almost as though it is running the query with no cache and thus takes a few extra seconds to display the results.(But that, presumably, wouldn't be fixed by simply stuffing the keyboard before a wait command - which is all I've done to get around the problem pending a correct solution)

did that, just in case... No effect.

hadn't come across that one before, so thanks for that. But turns out that it was already set to True.
Guess I'll just have to accept the bodge for now.
