>>One thing to look at though is your cable modem user agreement. Would this qualify as what they would term unacceptable? That is why we have not tried yet. We are still trying to determine that.

>Ugh, hadn't though about that. I wouldn't think it would be a proprietary concern, especially if it seriously reduces the potential cable customer base. But good point, I'll keep it in mind.

I have Time Warner's RoadRunner service and I use the MS VPN via RAS to connect to my office servers all the time. Works like a charm. I don't think there's anything in my user agreement about doing this since I'm sure the folks at RoadRunner didn't think about it and frankly it's just Internet access anyway. What difference does it make if I'm downloading a 300MB file or communicating with my office LAN?
"It is an important and popular fact that things are not always what they seem. For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much -- the wheel, New York, wars and so on -- whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man -- for precisely the same reasons." - Douglas Adams
