>I am surprised that otherwise bright people allow themselves to be blinded by "would'ves" and "should'ves" and cannot see the essence of this case.

>In his speech last night, Al Gore flat out lied and obfuscated several of the facts of the matter. Yes, both candidates have been playing partisan games for sure, but W. will dance around an issue with platitudes while Gore will look you in the eye and lie.

So, is your argument, they are both liars, but W. hides it better < g >?

>FACT: The jerk states that he wants "every vote counted" ... of course, this only applies to those 3 counties in So. Fla. Does this mean that all undervotes in the rest of the country should be re-evaluated. When asked that question, Dems will disingenuously say that W. had his chance to call for a recount and didn't take it. So which is it? Want every vote counted or every sloppy undervote in Dem counties in Florida recounted?

I am not arguing this point. I have pointed out in previous posts that I think Gore is lying. My point is that Bush is too. I got into this debate because too many Republicans were painting the picture:

"Democrats All Bad, Republicans All Good"

My involvement did not start until I saw a post saying that all that Democrats want is power.

And Gore did offer Bush a reccount of all of Florida. Bush turned it down. Gore outmanueverd him and boxed him into a corner. Hey, too bad. Get smarter, or get better lawyers.

>FACT: There was NO INTIMIDATION in DADE COUNTY. None! No one was pushed, shoved, or threatened. My cousin was THERE and he's a Democrat and he thinks this is rather comical. This is a big, fat, oozing lie.

I was not there, but the video on CNN looked somewhat intimidating. There was pushing, and the deputy (?) did have a difficult time closing the door to the room, due to the push of the demonstrators. And where exactly was your cousin, the Democrat? In the room with the canvassing board, or protesting with the Republicans?

>FACT: Gore calls for the "rule of law", yet has sought to modify or overturn Florida election laws from the beginning. So, again, which is it Al? The rule of law as benefits you after you change it? Or the actual freaking statutes on the books?

No argument here. Gore wants to win. But the idea that Bush is being completely honest is a farce. It is partisan, on both sides, and extremely high-stakes. The kind of stakes most of us won't even come close too. The most power I ever see is getting a recommendation for VFP through with a client < g >

>I'm not even going to go there with Al's assertion that every step he takes is in line with the Constitution.

John, with all due respect, I'll leave that up to the US Supreme Court, and not to you. You know your VFP, and have posted some good legal arguments, but your no Supreme < g >.

>What's going to happen is that for his own, personal interests, Gore is going to drag this out and drag this out until we have a genuine Constitutional crisis on our hands. And then the genie is out of the bottle, folks.

I'll put my faith in the US Supreme Court, no matter what they say. Not Al Gore, not W., not Kathleen Harris, and definitely not your cousin < g >. Can we get everyone to agree that the Supremes are our best chance in this situation, or are they also a bunch of pinko-commie-liberals?
