Its VFP 5.0. Individual users on local machines using an HR system enter transactions to their system (hires terms etc) and the transaction records build up in a table on their local machine, a part of a dbc, named tbltrans. There are 8 users all over the place on a network by a WAN with some dial ins.

Periodically they press a button and their systems USE the file on the server )TRInbox which is the same format as their local file, and append from their local file, then zap the local file. They do this at random times.

A user with a different system periodically presses a button and appends all the records FROM the table on the server to his local file to place a stamp of approval on them and send them on. This is a VFP 5 system and the table is part of a DBC.

The table on the server is stand alone.

The issue is occurring in the rare times that the approval user is accessing the table at the same time somoene is putting records into it. I need to trap the situation
