>I know of nothing in this country that gets “fixed” before it breaks. If the right to vote is so important and matters to any degree why have we been using paper ballots for so long in so many places? It should be mandated to use a uniform election method that is representative of the period we live in. Should this not be done I can see those “Real Americans” the various self proclaimed Militia that are in so many areas of this country expressing the will of the true conservative.
This probably would not fly with Republican, who favor state's rights. In other words, I think the argument would be that each state has the right to determine how their elections, including Presidential, are conducted.
>I call the right to vote the passive right of revolution. When I go to the voting booth to cast my ballot I am expressing my desire to elect the best government I feel is being offered. Members of my family including myself have fought to defend this country and its democratic principles. To me voting by ballot is better than voting with a gun.
Yeah, but a gun is so much more decisive <g>. If Gore and Bush would just have a duel, this would all be over with.
>It could be argued that no one should have the right to vote, as the “common man” is not capable of selecting those that should govern. Leave such matters to the politicians – they are the professionals.
