David,
(try again... I keep trying to tab in the UT Premium interface, and it keeps not working <s>).
I got a great tip from Monte Erickson on how to remember to reset the drive cache: drag System from control panel into the Startup folder ont he Start menu (it will prompt you to create a shortcut). So, whenever I reboot, I'm remind to reset the drive cache setting, and am already halfway there.
What happens in Win2K seems to be that the datetime stamp of the file is not modified when Fox closes an SCX file. I think I had a similar corruption on an FRX file, but I'm not sure.
MS support seems to be silent on the subject, although they (the VFP team) were very good at verifying the problem; I suspect it's too big a problem to be fixed easily. The last I heard, the problem had been referred back to the VFP product team, where it has apparently languished.
