I figured out what was causing it, I'm just not exactly sure why. It had to do with the next field in the tab order. It is a one character field that has M or F in the valid event. The error would occur when one of the users scanned in a SSN when the cursor wasn't at the beginning of the SSN field. It would scan in all the character anyway, causing it to overflow to the next field where the valid clause would return .F., but the keyboard values would keep coming. It was this field that was causing the lockup, and modifying the code in it somewhat fixed the problem. The beeps were from the valid event returning .f.. Live and learn.
