I neglected to say it's a great language, everything is a class except for some 'primatives'. I don't have C++ experience but had no problem learning JAVA (not an expert yet). Keep in mind it's a low level language, not like VFP, if you want to create a database app. either you find some libraries or you have a lot of coding to do!

We mainly used MS J++ (as well as JAVA compiler - in DOS), which is very similar to VB IDE, although we stuck to generic JAVA, we never had any compatibility issues with J++ and took advantage of its more friendly IDE.

One of my favorite features is overloading, where you can have multiple functions (methods) with same name and parameters of different datatypes. When called, the function with the same datatype passed is automatically used.
