I was a naive college student in '64 when the Viet Nam conflict was building.

I don't remember a lot of "facts", but I do remember Professor's looking for the Canadian newspaper ( which I was reading to get news from home! ) and them commenting that they did NOT trust the American papers! And the returning vet's were strangely silent about their experiences.

Years later I was involved in a pick-up softball game at a local park in Toronto, the teams were jokingly called 'the dodgers' and 'the deserters' because they had so many ex-patriate Americans.

Nixon had his flaws, but he did get the USA into peace mode!

As a Canadian, it amazes me that US FEDERAL elections are run by LOCAL officials! We got rid of that nonsense when we went to the secret ballot 200 years ago! The locals were unworthy of trust then, looks like there is no reason to do so today either!

And by 'locals' , I mean ALL the Florida officials, both sides! Republicans filling in missing information, chad fixers, etc!

Strangely, as Canadians we are hearing that Gore is closer to our social democratic beliefs, but that Gore will be more helpful to our farmers and industries! ( Not his intention to help us, just that there is a lot of protection he says he will do away with! )
