>Funny... I thought I saw that in the liberal handbook... <g>

Doug;

It may be that both labels Liberal and Conservative mean little or in fact may mean the same thing. It depends upon the individual and not a tag we place on him/her. Some people I talk to call me a liberal and others a conservative. People and topics are too complex to put someone into a category that fits a specific definition. I have found that people that like to give something a simple title do not have time or want to look at a topic or individual. It is easier to go about your life and give tags to everything. It saves time and you can easily dismiss what ever comes your way with whatever tag fits.

This topic of Liberal and Conservative is one that I feel is best left as a definition of the political platforms of the Republicans and Democrats. There are Liberals and Conservatives within both parties but there is in fact a political platform that is the agenda for each party. Over a period of time the political platform is revised as well as what constitutes a liberal or conservative. I do not feel it is possible or accurate to give an individual a tag of liberal or conservative but prefer to say that a attitude on a specific topic will establish how a person things on a given topic. Again, the political platform is not like an individual. It is well defined and is known to all. You do not know all the thoughts another person has. You will not be aware of your own thoughts on a subject until it is presented to you. We may change our attitude on one or more subjects over a period of time for what ever reason.

What is important to me is the actions of the person in office. There are many Christians in this country and we are taught to forgive. In the case of President Clinton, many refuse to forgive and still call themselves Christians. Clinton did some things that helped people in my area (Silicon Valley) for which I am very grateful. President Clinton spent about 7 ¾ years of his two terms in Office as President fighting Congress and the legal system in one way or another. It seems from the start Republicans did not want to work with him. Setting aside all the allegations that were not proven, the facts of actions that were true and we are aware of are degrading. All of this has hurt the nation very deeply. Are Americans better off now than during 1989 to 1993? The answer is yes if you consider the whole picture.

Who ever is our next President I hope he is a leader and can work with congress and has the best interests of the people of this nation at heart. All the American people deserve that.

Tom
