It's just like any other file; realize that you can't easily get the program to modify it's own executable, since it'll be running, and therefore open. I would not recommend doing this at all unless you know what you're doing, since it'll likely trigger any AV software on a system (definitely all the McAfee products and NAV watch and trigger their virus alerts whenever an EXE is opened for writing), and may result in unusable executable images.
