When I attended NTSU (in the apex of the Metroplex) in 1978 we used punch cards. I remember many an hour in the keypunch rooms and dropped decks on the way to the computer room. Not to mention all the chads (only we called it garbage).
The only problem with going with PCs would be that the software would be written or run on something written by Microsoft and Gore could then demand a hand debug of the operating system because of The Lawsuit.
