Has anyone used the Winsock.ocx to communicate client.server requests. If used in VFP applications are there any known "Gotchas"?

I could use sample VFP code to call into the Winsock to get, lets say, a servers friendly name resolved to a ip. Just looking to improve my API calling skills, but if there are major "gotchas" to avoid I would like to know what they are and how to avoid them up front.

I noted already the I could use Rick Strahl's wwipstuff and associated dll to to get this infor... but just curious.
