>As a Jew, I would be upset at the picketing of Lieberman's home only if it were done BECAUSE it was the sabbath. The article doesn't mention if the demonstrators were there any other days. My guess is that they have been there many times in the past. Picketing a prominennt politicial (who happens to be Jewish) on Saturday among other days is no different than picketing the White House (whose occupant happens to be Christian) on Sunday. There is NO religious implication in my mind - merely a group of Americans exercising their rights.

I agree, I would be very surprised if this had any anti-semitic overtones, as I pointed out in another response. I am pretty sick of the anti-semitic card, the race card, etc. My guess is that the protesters were not aware, at least at first, of the Sabbath.

And it is not just the Sabbath, but the fact that Lieberman, from what I have read, observes it. In other words, this is not a person paying lip-service to his religion. From what I can tell, he believes it, and practices it.

And although I still have a problem with people protesting at a private residence, why not just leave after someone tells you it is the Sabbath?

Come back the next day... it's not like this is going to go away in 24 hours. *g*
