Yes, it will make simple calculations a lot faster, but you'll gain no performance when using high level commands like SQL-SELECT, REPLACE, or other DML commands. Agreed. 100%. In fact, I generally don't find it worth the slightly larger exe's that result.
As for the "isolated" form refresh, it has no impact. I agree with you taht the underlying code in a form_refesh() will have an effect (see my original post repsonse on this).
