I was using an _assign method on the checkbox to dynamically change the caption and the forecolor of the checkbox. The problem was with the _assign. It was trying to update the record at the same time, the default behavior the checkbox was.

I swithed to using 2 checkboxes and the DynamicCurrentControl property to switch controls. It appears to have solved my problem.
