Just a question...or two...
If the addition is not as instrumental as it would have been in FP 2.x - which was last released 6 years ago - why is it good stuff? i.e., why is it so important to have consistiency amongst Xbase commands?
I agree that if you are using DBF data, it is nice to finally have these things. Although, if I had a bunch of code already in production, I would not go through the bother of rewriting to take advantage of these new features.
On the other hand, if you are primarily concerned with remote data and writing middle-tier objects, these features are meaningless. I know the counter to this will be that if you are using remote views, these features can be beneficial. I suppose that is true, however, my counter to that counter would be that you are not supposed to do that sort of thing on the UI - unless of course, you have a classic 2-tier/single tier application.
I suppose that is that heart of it. If you are writing classic-style VFP apps, you should be happy now. But what about folks that want to concentrate in the middle and back-end. The area VS.Net appears to be addressing with the new data and application models. When you talk about new features, it appears to me the new VFP 7 really does not address that.
FWIW, I am not trying to pick a fight here. Rather, I am trying to encourage a discussion of what these new "features" are and what they really mean...
