In my office we have started looking at JAVA and creating small applets. So you see we think VFP is in trouble. But when a project is started we still turn to VFP because of many features.

Well, in line with the title of this thread... it sounds like you are being proactive...<s>.

Here's my own two cents on this issue. I still think that the best thing that could've happened to FP when 3.0 was released would have been a new name. And I still feel this way. No matter how many "new and hot" features a product has, if journalists and large-company management types associate it (by name) with white-on-cyan DOS screens, it's just not going to get a lot of positive attention.

And, I think a lot of folks would be more eager to write articles about, or accept jobs where they were going to learn, "a really zippy new language -- Whatever 2.0" than "FoxPro's most recent update -- 5.0." Grossly unfair, I know (weeping, sobbing, and wailing in background) but true in my experience.

Of course, that might not have been enough. It certainly didn't work out very well for Pascal... uh, Delphi.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts. - Bertrand Russell
