Okay, no offense meant to your boss then, but as Trey indicated, there is an extremely good reason why the "dotted-lines" appear as a fundamental GUI setting - they are to tell the user where the focus is, and that a TAB will move them to the next page. Sorry, but I cannot see how removing the focus indicator will do anything but serve to confuse the interface and make it non-standard.

OTOH, it's usually a bad to make sweeping generalizations about applications that one is not familiar with, I will certainly grant that.
