I would like to see a speed comparison of ADO vs. VFP cursors. In other words, I would be very interested in ADO if it is as speedy or close to as speedy as VFP, and can do everything that VFP can do.

Simply put, a VFP cursor cannot do everything an ADO Recordset can do. An ADO Recordset cannot do everything a VFP Cursor can do.
This is why Mr. Ryan's "statement of fact" is ludicrous...< s >...
There is quite a bit of overlap between the two. At the same time, there are things that VFP does better than almost anything out in the market. The question then becomes how much importance - perceived value - is placed on what VFP does so well.
I contend not much....
