I 'might' have it worked out !

running this code

set resource off
use sys(2005) excl
delete all for id="WINDMODIFY" and "prg" $ Lower(name)
pack
use
set resource on

then edit the .prg , check the boxes and MAKE CHANGES so the Menu File Save is NOT grey! Then a save seems to save the preferences!

I'm going to add these lines to my global reset program, that may slowly eliminate the problem!
