And if you are really keen to roll-your-own then you should check out Filer.DLL - this has all of the functionality of the Windows Explorer search!

Sure it does, you can specify upto three strings to search for and set a date range, etc. just like Windows Explorer. There is even a form (might be vcx) that comes with VFP showing you how it works :-)
