I have setup the system exactly as you have said, with no success. The IUSR_Intranet account is setup as a guest user on the NT Server holding the dbf's. Account has blank pwd on both machines (IIS machine and NT Server)
I am looking at the knowledge base article aswell. It wasn't very clear about the differences b/w basic authentication and NT challenge/Response. I think this maybe what's causing the problem.
How do setup for Basic Authentication?
