From my current understanding, the USSC actually *allowed* the FSSC to disregard their own ruling, from the interjection of the USSC ruling. It sort of backfired for the Bush people, but that may be just temporary, of course, the USSC may revisit that with a stronger opinion for Bush.

The big problem for the Bush people is that the recount will go forward immediately, and may allow Gore to officially overtake Bush in the vote count before the USSC rules again, a big PR victory for Gore.
