Doug,

I feel much the same way, actually. The taxes on the bare land alone are enough to choke most horses. There are no neighbors for over a mile. There is no power, phone, cable, water, sewer, you name it. We will be bringing in our own utilities, but not right away.

I'm probably going to be working in one of those little trailer things off a generator and satellite internet connection for a year... it's either that or never see my husband. He goes up there pretty much every day and sleeps over night a lot. There isn't enough guilt in the universe to prevent it! <g>

The plateau is like being on the end of the world, though, so I guess somehow a trailer would be bearable just to be out there. When the mist hangs in the mountains below us, it is like being on another world. They are black peaks sticking up through the white. Of course, I have to get those photos posted and then you'll know exactly what I mean.

>Yeah.. I'm a real sucker for this stuff and sometimes forget that others have thin skin..

This isn't meant to be mean... but even fairly thick skin can only stand so much. After a while it starts to feel like an assault. My first ex-husband sealed his fate when he stood on the steps at my college and started telling passers-by that they were going to burn in hell. It was completely inappropriate and I was mortified.

I'm sure he meant well, but it really made no difference. He came off as a complete kook. It didn't belong in a professional school -- too divisive.

>I think you and I'll always get along though.. <g>

As long as we keep trying.
