what i am doing is developing a three tiered system and need to pass a list of values to populate a combo box. i was wondering is it better to pass the array or the collection to the interface from the business rules set.

In that case, here's another thought: there may be some benefit in using an ADO recordset, even if you create and populate it from scratch. The recordset has several helpful native methods (.MoveNext etc) and some combo boxes can bind directly to recordsets.
