I could set up a table with the wrong MID in one field and the right MID in another filed but I don't always know what the wrong number will come accross as.
Randall,
I've re-read this thread in its entirety! And all I can say is that you might get a better response if you phrased things a little less ambiguously - when you say "right mid" do you mean "right" as in the opposite of "left" or do you mean "correct"?

MID field length is 16
an example of some MIDs would be:
1. 395112548978954 should be 3951125489789545
2. 125487 should be 1254878
this is a tricky one
3. 55555555 should be 555585555
There must be some basis to your changes above! In example one, you have increased the length from 15 characters to 16 - does this mean that anything less than 16 characters in length is not correct?

How do you know that 125487 should be 1254878? Is this based purely on a look-up, or are you employing an algorithm?

Do you have a rule that describes the structure of a valid 'mid'. From the examples above it looks like anything-goes!
censored.
