>BTW, here's something I found today, is it possible to be Taxed on the "gain" of downloaded MP3s?
So now line 423,173 of my tax return could be: "Number of copywritten items downloaded from the Internet" <groan>. Yeah, technically, it's a "gain." But I'd rather have the money go to the artists (via the whole food chain feeding off the artist) rather than more to the government <sigh>.
Over on the Girl Scout Leader list, the question that pops up periodically is, "Can we make songbooks and give them to the troop/sell them to others?" The answer is NO (unless you get permission or the song is in the public domain)--and I agree (though it WOULD be nice to get song sheets for these girls!) Even better: there was litigation against the Girl Scouts, trying to get them to pay royalties on copywritten songs sung around the campfire at GS camps (which was thankfully withdrawn). There is a limit...
