Thanks. It gave me a place to start and I'm now looking at a few possibities (Symbol, Intermec, Hand Held Products, Percon...).

>Symbol has ruggedized versions of Palm and PocketPCs, some with barcode scanners. I haven't used them though.

The idea is that when ambulances return to HQ after their shifts, the ambulance must be washed, checked and supplied for missing/used items. This all done under 15 minutes... and now with a paper trace that we want to eliminate.

>>One of the solution we are looking at is to use handhelds. But... we are looking for handhelds with a barcode reader feature (quick and easy scan of items).
>>
>>Every items (stretchers,etc...) would have barcode tags and at end of shift they would be scanned into the handheld (to identify if item is replaced, left in or was left at hospital...) and then the handheld would be docked to a desktop to download into the main system's database.
>>
>>Here in Montreal, we are looking a one or may be two suppliers (handheld with barcode readers), but I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions as to where to look.
>>
>>TIA.

>>P.S.: Anyone that has other ideas beside the handheld is welcome to share :).
