It's very likely that the scanner doesn't support the barcode font you're using, or the barcode isn't compliant regarding format and content. Even if your reader will accept it, the real test is UPS - they will require you to submit samples for compliance testing before accepting your barcoded output on their pacakges. You may find it easier to interface with the UPS OnLine product, which UPS will supply for free.
