Actually, we get some of this in Canada too. I actually had this discussion with the brother of a friend. He argued that gun registration was unconstitutional because it infringed on our right to bear arms. I pointed out that first, that was a right granted by the US Constitution to American citizens, and our Constitution says nothing about that (clearly, he watches too much American TV <g>). Next, I pointed out what you did -- that even the US Constitution doesn't grant the right to bear arms to individuals. He countered with the brain-dead "guns don't kill people" assertion, at which point I stopped arguing because how do you have a discussion with an idiot?
