It is also more interesting now to use the online transaction as oppose to leave your credit card number in a store as the online merchand, in most setup now, doesn't even see your main credit card information. So, the transaction is done from the client to the bank. The merchand only receives the transaction status and some information for the monitoring and adjustements. That is mostly standards now for those setups.
