In my case, I got lazy one day and used it to determine if two (or more) monitors were in use. Rather than use the Win32 GetSystemMetrics(SM_CMONITORS) - which only works on 98 and 2000. Or EnumDisplayMonitors which requires a callback.

This was just so that the splash screen did not land half on one display and half on the second.
