>I was a U.S. Marine for 5 years and worked as a state trooper for 4 years and an undercover narcotic agent on a DEA task force along the Mexican border for 7 before I got out because of liberal whiners like you. So I speak from the experience I have gained (earned) by being in places where life was cheap while you were at the prom.

I love the rhetoric = "liberal whiners". The fact that you label ME a liberal is laughable. In fact, I am a moderate. I don't believe in legislating social programs for every problem. And at the same time, I believe in both interpreting the constitution as our founding fathers intended the document to be - but at the same time - making sure the document reflects the current state of affairs.

FWIW, I think some of our laws are a bit liberal with respect to guns..< s >..

>The NRA is a champion of stricter penalties for gun related crime. Every organization has its faction that draws bad press, the NRA is no different. There are thousands who are members who are fine people and a great many are police officers. How about the sterotype that every VFP programmer has an IQ less than 100. Sounds as ludicrous as your a..hole remark. The NRA also put millions into design of body armor (and other safety measures)to protect the guys who you don't even notice until you need them, the police officer. Instead of listening to the spin doctors in Washington and the Association of Chiefs of Police go out and poll line officers as to whether we should take up every gun. You will be surprised at the answers. There are plenty of laws on the books, why don't we enforce them. You'll notice that states that have an armed population and strict penalties ( Montana, Arizona, Texas etc...), have a lower crime rate then your large unarmed urban areas. When interviewing career
>criminals ( I have hundreds under my belt, when was the last time you knowingly talked to a violent felon without wetting your pants )they will tell you that they look for houses that have no weapons because that house is easy pickings. I have survived several armed confrontations in my past careers and have a past partner who owes his life to the advances in body armor, supported by the NRA. I also had a coworker die because a career criminal outgunned him and nobody in the crowd of bystanders was armed and could help him. He left behind a wife and two children and begged for his life ( according to witness statements) before he was executed for doing his job and trying to write a speeding ticket. I am sure you would have stood there and watched as well with all the other cowards.

>It is people like you with you cry baby attitudes that have caused a mass exodist from police work by honest people who are replaced by idiots who only work because they can't get a job anywhere else. I myself do believe that there is no place in our society for assault weapons and weapons with large capacity magazines. I however own many weapons for sport and protection and have no intention of ever giving them up even if mandated by law. The day we as a society disarm is the day that we will be open to all kinds of terrorist acts and plots of take over by these countries who would like nothing better that to lose the police power in the world. Not to mention the immediate increase in crime. They won't give up their's either and they know that guys like you only want to rehabilitate them so they can get out in a few months and rape, rob, murder, and pilage again.

Yes yes, very nice. Now, please address the constitutional issue here. You experience in law enforcement and you passion notwithstanding, you have not addressed the consititutional issue..< s >...

>Besides you are incorrect as to the main purpose of the 2nd amendment. It was designed to protects us ( the population ) from a corrupt government. Kind of like what is going on now. It also has prevented us from a mass invasion during past times of war. Try living in Europe or Africa ( or anywhere else ) where the only people who are armed are the criminals, terrorist, and police. Everyday over there is a battle in some places just to stay alive.
>

Assuming that is true, go back to my hypothetical and tell me how that bears on the need to have semi-automatic weapons. Specifically, where is the constitutional right...

>If guns kill people then the pen is responsible for misspelled words and the fork for obesity. You strike me as one of those guys who let other people fight and die for your freedom. The freedom to your opinion no matter how pansified and misinformed it may be. So why don't you stick to writing code instead of treading where you need not go little boy. For those of you who align yourself with this goobers opinion, I apologize for having to sterotype you as non-caring liberals as well I am sure most of you are fine individuals, but I grow tired of children talking during the adults' party.

Yes yes, Charlton Heston - propped up with a stick and all - from my cold dead hands.... Certainly, the NRA rhetoric is not lost on you...< bg >...
