Of course a Pentium machine will execute the application faster than a 486. But it is the rendering of the forms on the screen on all machines that will happen without the kind of waiting time we see on VFP apps that concerns me.

If you have a robust set of libraries that define a given application framework, and have sufficient experience with the framework, development time should be about the same as a VFP app. VC++ does have a Visual development environment, but its not as nice and easy to use as VFP

Delphi 3 C/S on the other hand gives you a development environment that is close to VFP. I estimate it will take me 6 months to know Delphi enough before I can drop VFP.

Yes. Lists and Grids are much faster. However form rendering is only 30% faster. Low-level fiile I/O speed increased 100% in my case.
